(1) Explain this type of procedure and what the procedure entails, (2) identify any ethical issues associated with this type of procedure, and (3) provide an opinion on this procedure—would you do it or not and why? The type of procedure planned by my friend can be risky for the life of the third child of the friend. This is because the third child will be a newborn baby whose bone marrow will be important for keeping the child healthy. Moreover, the eldest child of my friend would require substantial amount of bone marrow to be transplanted from the body of the newborn child to the eldest child. From the perspective of utilitarianism, this procedure might appear to be ethical (Week 6 Lecture).
